Clarines party

Published by ecombelles.admin on

Up-hill people keep their ancestors’ traditions in their heart.

Each summer, they give life to the good old days. Everyone gives a hand, wearing the grandma’s cap, or the grandpa’ skis. They put on their wooden shoes and lead the Tarine cows with their ringing “clarines d’alpages” (pasture bells).

You can be part of this party if you come at La Rosière during summer for the “Fête des clarines“.

At the beginning of july, you’ll have to go back to the valley. You’ll see how it was in the fifties during “fête de l’edelweiss” at Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

If you’d like to see our little cousins wearing their traditional tarine cap, heart shaped, check on their portrait in “100 ans là-haut”. That’s the beautiful book in which you can see the picture above. (crédits 100 ans là-haut : De 1900 à 2000, Montvalezan – La Rosière /Relié – 2000, de Gisèle Gaide et Roger Gaide).
