Hiking to Le Vaz

Published by ecombelles.admin on

Le Vaz is a small village above Le Mousselard. It is crossed by the torrent of Les Moulins, and can be reached easily by following the river. The footpath starts at the village of  Les Moulins.

Just leave Le Mousselard through the main entrance (the one that comes from Montvalezan), and begin to rise, before crossing the bridge. 1/2 hours later one gets to Le Vaz. The walk is short, ideal for a family stroll and there is a picnic area to satisfy the munchies.

Le Vaz being roughly the same altitude as Le Chatelard, you may want to make a detour before going back down to the cottage, to get close to the famous chapel of Saint Michel. The path to reach the Chatelard is flat and does not require much additional effort.

Le Vaz is also the  starting place of a ski-lift called “le petit bois” (translate as ‘small wood’) one of the lowest of the resort.
During winter, when there is enough snow, we can even ski down to the cottage by the road that led us to Le Vaz. Please be aware that the trail is narrow, sometimes crowded with trees or various obstacles. Best way is to ask the person in charge of the ski lift wether the track is passable.
Such a pleasure to go directly to the cottage and get instant warmed with a cup of hot chocolate!
