The murgers

Stone piles near Montvalezan. Pebbles removed from fields, meadows and gardens were usually piled between fields and woods. They progressively became heaps of stones. Now you can see them in the landscapes, we call them « murgers » in french. The largest ones can even be noticed on a topographic map (classical IGN map). As a matter of fact, they are symbolized by a closed quite oval line, and hatched external border. Hiking on the opposite mountain

Today, we offer you to walk on the mountain you admire just in front of you on the balcony.   You’ll reach by car these two places. Every hiker can enjoy these walks.   La chapelle des Vernettes, gift at the end of the path!   Departure: Plan Peisey parking. Level: easy, and if you have little hikers, there’s a bus to smoothe the effort. Chapel: Give a call to Peisey-Vallandry’s tourists office to know the opening hours. Hiking with children starting at the cottage

We already presented you this path as la Balade au Vaz.   Children really like this walk through the forest. Even there’s a little up-hill slope, it’s still an easy walk for their little legs. The “Redoute ruinée” even in summer

It’s so easy to hike with your children on top of the mountains at La Rosière !     You just have to take the “Roches noires Express” chairlift which leads you to Roc noir. You can check on the fees at the Tourist information Office.   Once at the top of Roc noir (2330 meters high), follow the smooth large path to the Traversette pass and the Redoute fort. Flowered balconies welcome you warmly!     Each spring we set some traditional geraniums to give the chalet a red touch decoration. They have grown well up and blossom more than ever. La Rosière – Panorama

Here’s the perfect place to watch the landscape from La Rosière. Driving up to Path of Petit Saint Bernard, you’ll see a beautiful panorama on the Tarentaise. Check it out at the Arcades sharp bend… Indeed, you can watch it on youtube as La Rosière posted a video about summer activities. Do you think that the VTT bikers (0’57”) are riding along the Mousselard chapel ? Looks slightly like it, isn’t it?

Saint Bernard’s statue

The Little Saint Bernard Pass links the Tarentaise (in France), to the Aoste Valley (in Italia). A statue of Saint Bernard exorcising the mountain welcomes the travellers coming from La Rosière. Bernard of Menthon, future patron saint of the Alps, and patron saint of mountaineering, founded the hospice at the pass during the XIth century.
