Idealized images

Published by ecombelles.admin on

Today, we made a big family meeting, several Savoyards’ generations… And we must say it: family photos in black and white, with mountains behind, that’s so charming!

Louis is the family memory. He was a headmaster of saint Jean de Maurienne’s school in the 50’s. When the distant cousin of the North asked how the children went to school under the snow, he answered tit for tat :

“Well that do remind me of a teacher who came from the South, by the sea. He had been allocated at our school, and he had expected a class of six pupils, stuck at the top of a rocky peak. But he had to face the facts: we are civilized! Actually, do you know what’s the biggest problem we had to deal with ? Parents’ cars in the yard !”

And yes, we do not grow tired of clichés on the Savoy. Idealized images are pleasant after all…

Still, nowadays, when primary school teachers are allocated to la Gurraz (near Villaroger) and they have to give a class to severel levels at a time, isn’t it just like the movie ” to Be and to have “? Above all when it’s on the north face : short days during winter. (North face, in french ubac : another arpitan word, also meaning dark.)

Well, our cottage is on adret (south face), so you can enjoy sunshine while speaking to our village’s memory, Henriette in her vegetable patch
