High-ground restroom

In the village of L’Échaillon, near above Sainte-Foy en Tarentaise, better not to be too sensitive to cold when you need to make water during the night. Sometimes you will even need some courage and a bit of self-control. Indeed the toilets are outside, hooked up with a simple cable on the left of the picture! Fortunately, some toilets are much more welcoming. You will only need a few steps out of the bedroom to reach the restroom at our cottage.

Saint-Michel chapel

The Chapelle Saint-Michel is a must of our region. It’s a hundred-year-old place of worship at the top of a rocky headland. Actually the chapel takes her name from her dominant situation as her famous homonym in Normandy. Don’t forget to have a look “inside” the orientation stick. What a stick! We’re going to present you three videos by Philippe Facquet. They will help you identify many birds around our cottage.   First of all the blue tits who play in front of the balcony. But let us show you a little teaser:     It’s just like in the chalet near the Miroir village’s church. If you’re lucky, you’ll see bullfinches, so beautiful! You can also watch goldfinches at Villaroger and the Planay even in winter when you picnic.   First video: easy birds!     The first four birds are usually flying around the cottage during winter: robins, blue Read more…

Altitude fauna

We made this picture in july at the lake without end. This rapacious is flying without moving, on top of the mountain, searching for a prey, a real “chasseur alpin” ! Observe animals also during winter. But don’t forget to admire without bothering, no stress please. It would burn the rare calories they have, and god knows it’s hard to find some up there at wintertime… Many mammals. Mountain sheep is finally back. Birds cheer us up with their colourful feathers. The accenteur alpin is sure waiting for you at the fort de la Redoute ! Please pay them respect. Read more…
